It matters more for Preston and Man City

Fa Cup predictions

📈 Preston to qualify v Burnley at 1/1

Not the most obvious pick given Burnley are unbeaten in 23 games, but this feels like a tie that matters more to Preston than their high-flying neighbours.

For Preston, it’s a free swing. They’re safely mid-table — comfortably clear of the drop and a fair way off the play-off spots — so this cup run is something they can fully focus on.

Burnley, on the other hand, have bigger priorities. They’re chasing automatic promotion, sitting 3rd and just two points off 2nd, with a crucial away trip to Cardiff on Tuesday. With that in mind, rotation wouldn’t be a shock.

And remember, Preston don’t even need to win inside 90 minutes — they just need to find a way through. Neither side has managed to score in 120 minutes against each other this season, so penalties could easily be on the cards.

📈 Erling Haarland to have over 2.5 shots on target v Plymouth at 7/5

There’s no reason for Manchester City to hold back here with a spot in the quarter-finals on the line and the FA Cup now their only realistic shot at silverware this season.

Erling Haaland is averaging 3.34 shots per game in the Premier League, with an impressive 60% of those hitting the target.

He was clinical again on Tuesday night against Spurs, firing 3 shots on target from 3 attempts and grabbing himself a goal in the process. That was the 10th time this season Haaland has racked up at least 3 shots on target in a league game — a reminder of just how often he tests the keeper when he’s on the pitch.

📈 Man City to win both halves v Plymouth at 66/100

There’s every chance this could get away from Plymouth, with Manchester City more than capable of running up a big scoreline. If that’s the case, backing City to win both halves makes plenty of sense.

They put three past Salford before half-time in the third round and added five more after the break in an 8-0 rout. They’ve also won both halves comfortably in a 6-0 win over Ipswich and a 4-0 victory against Newcastle earlier in the competition.
